How scary can a lack of culture be?

When I was doing my previous job, I was once called over by my boss, who asked me to hack their account to get a free VIP account.

I looked up and saw it was a WPS Docer membership. I said I probably didn't have the skills for that. The boss started yelling: "You always say you know a little bit, but I didn't expect you couldn't even handle such a simple task. Go get the tech guy."

I went out with a stiff upper lip and called the tech guy over. I also wanted to see how amazing this technique was.

I watched as the tech guy coaxed and sweet-talked the boss out of the room, saying it would take a long time and he needed to wait.

He turned around, came back, and paid for it with a quick scan of his phone. I was dumbfounded. I said, "You call that an operation?"

He told me, "Don't bother with fools. Consider it money spent to avoid disaster. We'll just include it in the costs next quarter..."
