Good weekend! As expected, there was no strike on Iran over the weekend. With the weekend over, it's back to the happy workdays. Have you all returned to your work cities? Haha, let's talk about things to note for next week.
Actually, whether Trump's tariffs are 10% or 15% this weekend doesn't really matter. Don't panic if the night market opens lower tomorrow. These are just short-term events. Wall Street has long been mentally prepared, unlike last April when it was caught off guard.
The most important thing next week is NVIDIA's earnings report at 5 AM on the 25th. Actually, everyone should know that NVIDIA has been bouncing between 170 and 190 for nearly three months. This shows that Wall Street is no longer concerned about how much money NVIDIA made last year. Everyone knows it definitely made a profit last year because Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI have all stated how much they plan to spend on chips, so profits certainly won't be low. The focus is on Q2 guidance and the backlog of orders. The conference call is very important.
That's why I said last month that NVIDIA couldn't surge significantly before the earnings report because the future is still uncertain. However, this year, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta have all doubled their annual budgets. NVIDIA's guidance must be explosive; otherwise, the market is in great danger. Everyone is also looking forward to its guidance, which must be good.
When the earnings report comes out, I personally think it will rise, but whether it can sustain the rise depends on the promises made during the conference call and its expenditures.
Why focus on NVIDIA? Because it's the biggest customer for memory. If it explodes, it's definitely good news for all related tech companies, especially memory chip stocks, with Micron being the first to benefit. So, before its earnings report comes out, don't move.
I think it will paint a suitable big picture. I hope it rides this wave to five trillion (personal opinion, not investment advice).
