I really like what Old Ma said: it's better to be optimistically wrong than pessimistically right.

Peter Thiel also expressed a similar view: 'In extreme cases, optimism and pessimism are the same thing. If you are extremely pessimistic, you can't do anything; if you are extremely optimistic, you don't need to do anything. Extreme optimism and pessimism both lead to laziness, and moderate optimism is the best.'
