🦎 IGGY MORNING BRIEF, 9 July 2026

☕ Good morning, Iguanas. SGX opens at 9 AM SGT. Here is what I am watching before the bell.

OVERNIGHT US SUMMARY

A sharp shift overnight. President Trump said the ceasefire with Iran is over following fresh US strikes after Iranian attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The Dow fell 1.09 percent to 52,348.09, the S&P 500 slipped 0.28 percent to 7,482.59, while the Nasdaq rose 0.20 percent to 25,870.65 as chip names found support. The key move is oil. Brent settled at 78.02 dollars, up 5.2 percent, the sharpest move since the conflict began. VIX rose to 16.90. This is a live geopolitical risk event, not routine macro noise.

SGX PRE-OPEN PULSE

USD/SGD at 1.2938. With oil spiking and US markets mixed, today carries higher geopolitical risk. A market coming off a bank led rally now has to digest a Middle East escalation that could shift quickly.

THREE STOCKS ON IGGY'S RADAR

👁 O39 OCBC, last done 26.790 dollars

Zone 1, Fortress. Balance sheet strength remains the anchor. Watching if bank momentum holds or fades on risk-off sentiment.

👁 U11 UOB, last done 43.330 dollars

Preliminary status pending 7 August earnings. Same setup as OCBC, testing whether sector strength continues.

👁 5E2 Seatrium, last done 1.940 dollars

Zone 5, Red Zone. Structural cash flow and coverage concerns remain. Flagged today for direct exposure to marine and offshore activity tied to Middle East disruption. Price reaction may be active, but forensic view unchanged.

IGGY'S GAME PLAN

The key question is whether this escalates into sustained risk repricing or fades as headline noise. Oil above 78 dollars feeds into broad cost pressure across sectors. No change to framework. Geopolitical shocks reinforce the need for yield discipline and strong balance sheets.
