These members also hope to prevent unauthorized use of their images by artificial intelligence.
On September 24th, the Writers Guild of America reached a preliminary agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers to end the strike that began in May. The Alliance represents film and television producers, including companies like Disney and Netflix. In June of this year, the Directors Guild of America reached its own agreement with the film companies.
As the entertainment industry shifts from broadcast television, cable TV, and movie theaters to streaming platforms, industry associations and their employers have been negotiating new compensation terms. The dual strikes by writers and actors have resulted in the suspension of hundreds of film and television projects, and forced television networks to rearrange their fall programming.
