Tesla Cybertruck may enter full-scale production phase.
There are signs that Tesla's Cybertruck may be approaching the full production stage. The Cybertruck was originally scheduled to begin production in the second half of 2021.
According to Dolphin Research, there are indications that Tesla's Cybertruck (TSLA.US) may be approaching the full production stage. The initial plan was to start production of the Cybertruck in the second half of 2021. It was later delayed to 2022, and then Elon Musk further pushed the timeline to 2023. According to The Verge, Musk confirmed in January of this year that the Cybertruck will not enter full-scale production until 2024, but the pre-production work is scheduled to begin this summer.
This timetable seems to be the most accurate so far, as the manufacturer announced on July 15 that the first Cybertruck was built at Tesla's Texas Gigafactory.
It is worth noting that the production of the Tesla Cybertruck seems to be finally approaching, as there is increasing evidence of deliveries of this truck. Some Tesla fans have posted photos of multiple Cybertrucks, while other netizens have seen test vehicles on the road, and one of the test vehicles looks similar to the Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra.
Tesla initially announced a starting price of $39,900 for the Cybertruck, for the single-motor rear-wheel drive version. The dual-motor all-wheel drive model is planned to be priced at $49,000, while the tri-motor all-wheel drive model is planned to have a range of 500 miles and a starting price of $69,900.
However, for many consumers, these prices for the Cybertruck seem difficult to achieve at the current point in time. For example, the initial price of the Ford F-150 Lightning was around $40,000, but it later increased by over $10,000 and then fell back to around $52,000. The starting price of the Rivian R1T is even higher at $74,800, and the GMC Hummer EV is even more expensive at nearly $87,000. This makes purchasing these electric vehicles more expensive and may exceed the budget of many consumers.
Musk seems to be considering raising the price of the Cybertruck. According to Forbes, the CEO withdrew the price, stating that "due to it being a new vehicle and using a new manufacturing method, it is difficult to achieve an affordable price."
