Due to the surge in demand for AI chips leading to tight production capacity, Samsung Electronics has raised the prices of some advanced process foundry services. The price increase for new orders in the 4-nanometer (SF4) and 5-nanometer (SF5) processes ranges from 10% to 15%, while the price for the 8-nanometer process has risen by nearly 10%. This move aims to address the shortage caused by the overflow of market demand

As the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips increases the tension in production capacity, Samsung Electronics has raised prices for some new orders of advanced wafer foundry services, with increases of up to 15%. This change occurs in a wafer foundry market long dominated by TSMC, and Samsung is benefiting from the capacity shortage brought about by the spillover demand for AI chips (core stocks). In July, Samsung raised the prices for chips produced using the 4-nanometer process (SF4). The price of customers' SF4 orders increased by 10% to 15% compared to the previous month. Additionally, the wafer prices for Samsung's 5-nanometer SF5 process have risen by 10% to 15%, while prices for the older 8-nanometer process have increased by nearly 10%.
