Harvard University's investment management organization disclosed holdings worth $2.2 billion in SpaceX shares. This institution invested in Elon Musk's rocket company in its early years and reaped substantial returns after SpaceX's significant IPO.

Harvard Management Company revealed this position in regulatory filing documents on Friday. In its $4.3 billion U.S. stock investment portfolio, SpaceX has become the single largest holding by market value.

This position fully reflects that SpaceX's record-setting IPO in June has brought substantial returns to numerous university endowment funds. Many university endowment funds had already invested in this company through venture capital channels over a decade ago.

According to the latest publicly available data, as of June 2025, Harvard Management Company manages approximately $57 billion in assets.

Harvard is not the only one benefiting from SpaceX's entry into the public market. The investment institution under the University of California disclosed in its filing this week that it holds approximately $1 billion in SpaceX stock; the University of North Carolina and Washington University in St. Louis also hold investments in the company
