Tesla's Chinese vehicle system update integrates Doubao large model for the first time

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on July 31, Tesla China announced the vehicle software update version 2026.14.13, covering Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X. The main upgrades in this software update include the introduction of the Doubao Large Model: an intelligent voice assistant that can provide real-time information and engage in natural and smooth conversations; it supports multiple premium voice tones, which can be paired with personalized roles such as "All-rounder," "Music Enthusiast," and "Storyteller," requiring a subscription to the advanced in-car entertainment service to use this feature.

Insiders revealed that this feature is integrated as an independent app, deeply optimized by Tesla for in-car scenarios. This service has already been filed, and new delivery models, as well as some older models, are gradually receiving OTA updates.

In August 2025, Tesla reached a cooperation with ByteDance's Volcano Engine, with Volcano Engine providing large model services for Tesla's intelligent cockpit interaction experience. The latest "Tesla Vehicle Voice Assistant Usage Terms" on Tesla China's official website shows that the voice system of Tesla Model vehicles will simultaneously integrate ByteDance's "Doubao Large Model" and DeepSeek's "DeepSeek Chat," both of which are accessed through Volcano Engine.

Among them, the Doubao Large Model will handle voice command functions such as navigation settings, media playback control, and air conditioning temperature adjustment, while also supporting voice queries for the owner's manual; DeepSeek will provide AI interaction capabilities.
