Data from Bank of America shows that major chipmakers like NVIDIA are expected to generate a record $430 billion in combined free cash flow over the next 12 months. In contrast, AI giants such as Amazon and Microsoft are projected to see their FCF turn negative for the first time due to massive capital expenditures. This reflects a trend where chip manufacturers have become cash machines, while AI leaders are burning through substantial funds to support future trillion-dollar spending

The latest statistics from Bank of America indicate that NVIDIA, Micron, Broadcom, and Applied Materials are now expected to generate a record $430 billion in combined free cash flow (FCF) over the next 12 months. This would be more than triple the FCF they generated two years ago.

Meanwhile, the combined FCF of Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle is projected to turn negative for the first time. This would mark a significant reversal from the $260 billion peak reported by these companies in 2024.

This shift occurs as the AI-related capital expenditures of these five companies are expected to soar to a combined total of approximately $1.8 trillion in 2026 and 2027.
