ASML CEO: Musk's Terafab Project May Face Supply Chain Bottlenecks
At the VivaTech conference, ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet stated that the company is participating in Musk's Terafab project but must ensure there are no supply chain bottlenecks to support the construction of this large-scale wafer fab. He emphasized the massive demand for AI infrastructure and mentioned the possibility of space-based data centers. During the VivaTech technology conference held in Paris, France, Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML Holding NV, stated that when providing services for new projects such as Musk's Terafab, the company must ensure it does not encounter supply chain constraints.
According to Bloomberg, when asked about new business from Terafab during an interview on Wednesday, Fouquet said:
"As long as supply capacity is not a bottleneck, new projects represent opportunities. Therefore, we must ensure this issue is properly addressed. Terafab is a typical example of a large-scale wafer fab project."
Fouquet stated that the demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure remains "extremely massive"; he also discussed the possibility of building data centers in space in the future.
As of press time, ASML shares rose 6% on Wednesday, gaining 30% over the past month.
ASML is the only manufacturer in the world capable of producing the most advanced lithography machines, which are crucial for manufacturing cutting-edge chips used in artificial intelligence training.
Earlier this month, ASML announced it would participate in Musk's ambitious Terafab project. The project aims to build sufficient semiconductor capacity to meet the chip demands of all companies under Musk's umbrella.
