Uber announced on Monday that it will collaborate with Israeli autonomous driving technology company Autobrains and American chip manufacturer NVIDIA to launch an autonomous taxi project in Munich, Germany, aimed at scaling the autonomous ride-hailing business in Europe. The three parties plan to combine Uber's mobility dynamic network with Autobrains' "intelligent AI" driving system, operating on NVIDIA's Drive Hyperion platform, with services initially deployed in Munich, while subsequent service launches will still require regulatory approval processes. The project aims to expand Robotaxi services from isolated pilot programs to operate across multiple vehicle platforms and city markets through a "cross-manufacturer" model. Autobrains' system breaks down driving decisions into multiple dedicated intelligent agents that can achieve real-time responses using standard onboard sensors. Munich has become a key testing focus for autonomous mobility in Europe, and Uber stated last year that it plans to begin autonomous road testing in the area starting in 2026
