Renowned investor Mark Mobius, hailed as the "Godfather of Emerging Markets," passed away on the 15th in Singapore at the age of 89. He was the executive chairman of the Templeton Emerging Markets Group for over 30 years and founded mutual funds focused on emerging markets. According to a report from the Economic Information Agency on the 16th, the renowned investor known as the "Godfather of Emerging Markets," Mark Mobius, passed away on Wednesday (15th) in Singapore at the age of 89.

As the Executive Chairman of the Templeton Emerging Markets Group, Mobius worked at the group for over 30 years. In 1987, at the invitation of pioneer John Templeton, who encouraged American investors to look overseas, Mobius founded one of the earliest mutual funds focused on rapidly developing emerging markets.

He managed the Templeton Emerging Markets Group until 2016 and served as the Chief Fund Manager of the Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust until 2015. In January 2018, Mobius announced his retirement.

Mobius Investment Company stated in a statement that following Mobius's passing, the company's two partners, John Ninia and Eric Nguyen, will assume leadership responsibilities. (rc)
