US President Donald Trump claimed a "quick, decisive, overwhelming victory" in the war against Iran. The Strait of Hormuz will naturally open once the conflict ends. Extremely severe strikes will be launched against Iran in the next two to three weeks
At 9 AM Beijing time on April 2nd (9 PM US Eastern Time on Wednesday), US President Donald Trump delivered a televised address to the nation regarding the conflict with Iran. This marks Trump's first prime-time national address in over a month since the joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran began.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Trump claimed in his speech to have achieved a "quick, decisive, overwhelming victory" in the war against Iran. The core strategic objectives of the US in the conflict with Iran are "nearing completion."
He asserted that the US will "never let Iran have a nuclear weapon." Iran's missile and drone capabilities have been limited. The Iranian navy no longer exists, and its air force has been destroyed. Some Iranian leaders have already died. Extremely severe strikes will be launched against Iran in the next two to three weeks.
Trump further stated that Iran's new leadership is less radical and more rational. If an agreement is not reached, Iran's power plants will be targeted. **"We haven't hit their oil yet, although that's the easiest target."
Regarding Hormuz, Trump proclaimed: the US does not need oil from the Middle East, "We barely import oil transported through the Strait of Hormuz." Once the conflict ends, the strait will naturally open.
He also mentioned that relations with Venezuela concerning oil and gas are good.
After Trump's speech began, Brent crude erased its losses and rose by 1.7% to $102.89 per barrel. US stock futures turned lower, with the S&P 500 futures falling by 0.3%. The Japanese yen retraced its gains against the US dollar.
