Tesla FSD 14.3 is undergoing employee testing, and Musk stated it may be released to the public this week
Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 14.3 is currently undergoing employee testing and is expected to be widely released before the weekend. Musk stated on social media that this release comes at a time when U.S. regulators are conducting a stricter review of Tesla's autonomous driving system due to concerns over its performance in adverse road conditions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated an engineering analysis to assess the performance of the FSD Beta version. The FSD system relies on visual cameras and software for driving assistance but still requires driver supervision
According to the Zhitong Finance APP, Elon Musk stated that Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 14.3 is currently in the employee testing phase and may be more widely released before this weekend. Musk posted on X: "FSD 14.3 is currently in the testing phase with Tesla employees and may be widely released this week."
This release comes as U.S. federal safety regulators are conducting a stricter review of Tesla's autonomous driving system, following concerns about its ability to handle adverse road conditions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched an engineering analysis last month to assess the performance degradation detection system of Tesla's FSD Beta and FSD (Supervised). Regulators cited multiple incidents, including a fatal accident, where the system failed to adequately warn drivers in low visibility conditions.
Tesla's FSD is an advanced driver assistance system that relies entirely on vision-based cameras and related FSD software to detect and respond to the road ahead, planning a route based on traffic control devices, vehicles, pedestrians, and the road itself. Meanwhile, FSD (Supervised) controls driving and steering functions but requires active supervision from the driver and does not enable the vehicle to achieve autonomous driving
