
From January to February, China's industrial added value above designated size increased by 6.3% year-on-year, with the electronic equipment manufacturing industry growing by 14.2%

From January to February, 35 out of 41 major industries saw an increase in value added year-on-year. The computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry grew by 14.2%, while the railway, shipbuilding, aerospace, and other transportation equipment manufacturing industry grew by 13.7%. In terms of product output, 1.604 million new energy vehicles were produced, a decrease of 13.7%; crude oil processing volume was 12.263 million tons, an increase of 2.9%
In 2026, industrial production data starts off strong.
On March 16, the National Bureau of Statistics announced that from January to February, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6.3% year-on-year in real terms (the growth rate of added value is the actual growth rate after excluding price factors), up from the previous value of only 5.2%. On a month-on-month basis, in February, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size grew by 0.83% compared to the previous month.

Looking at the three major categories, from January to February, the added value of the mining industry increased by 6.1%, manufacturing grew by 6.6%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water increased by 4.7%.
By economic type, from January to February, the added value of state-controlled enterprises increased by 4.2%; joint-stock enterprises grew by 6.9%, foreign and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-invested enterprises increased by 4.0%; and private enterprises grew by 7.4%.
By industry, from January to February, 35 out of 41 major industries saw an increase in added value year-on-year.
Among them, the coal mining and washing industry grew by 7.2%, the oil and natural gas extraction industry increased by 5.8%, the agricultural and sideline food processing industry grew by 6.1%, the wine, beverage, and refined tea manufacturing industry increased by 4.3%, the textile industry grew by 5.3%, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 7.6%, the non-metallic mineral products industry grew by 2.5%, the black metal smelting and rolling processing industry increased by 2.2%, the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry grew by 3.9%, the general equipment manufacturing industry increased by 8.9%, the special equipment manufacturing industry grew by 8.8%, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 3.4%, the manufacturing of railway, ship, aerospace, and other transportation equipment grew by 13.7%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 8.7%, and the manufacturing of computers, communications, and other electronic equipment grew by 14.2%, while the production and supply of electricity and heat increased by 5.1%.
By product, from January to February, among 626 types of products in industrial enterprises above designated size, 397 types saw an increase in output year-on-year.
Among them, steel production was 221.19 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%; cement production was 178.27 million tons, an increase of 6.8%; the production of ten non-ferrous metals was 13.42 million tons, an increase of 3.9%; ethylene production was 6.6 million tons, an increase of 5.1%; automobile production was 4.024 million units, a decrease of 9.9%, of which new energy vehicles accounted for 1.604 million units, a decrease of 13.7%; electricity generation was 1,571.8 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 4.1%; and crude oil processing was 122.63 million tons, an increase of 2.9%.
From January to February, the product sales rate of industrial enterprises above designated size was 95.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percentage points; the export delivery value of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 2,405 billion yuan, a nominal year-on-year increase of 6.3%.
