"Trump" inseparable? Google CEO congratulated Trump on the phone and unexpectedly found Musk on the line too
In the past two weeks, Trump and Musk seem to be "inseparable": from Musk's "unexpected appearance" during Trump's call with Zelensky, to dining with Trump and his family, and then providing substantial financial support for Trump's campaign, becoming an important advisor in planning for Trump's second presidential term... Now, their "friendship" continues
In the past two weeks, Trump and Musk seem to have been "inseparable": from Musk's "unexpected appearance" during Trump's call with Zelensky, to dining with Trump and his family, and then providing substantial financial support for Trump's campaign, becoming an important advisor for Trump's second presidential term planning... Now, their friendship continues.
Recently, when Google CEO Sundar Pichai called Trump to congratulate him on his election as president, an unexpected "guest" appeared on the other end of the line: none other than the world's richest man, Musk.
According to tech media The Information, citing insiders, Musk's presence surprised Pichai.
Musk's companies compete with Google in various fields, especially in artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technology.
Musk and Trump have both publicly criticized Google, but Trump's attitude has recently changed
The Information reported that Musk's appearance during the call between Trump and Pichai is the first instance of Musk appearing in a phone meeting between Trump and other tech leaders.
Trump's spokesperson Steven Cheung stated:
"Trump has received congratulatory calls from business and tech leaders across various industries, celebrating his historic victory. As Trump has repeatedly stated during the campaign, the president has maintained contact with these leaders to ensure that American jobs and workers are protected."
Recently, Musk publicly criticized Google, accusing the company of bias in its search result displays. Trump has also made similar criticisms of Google, even threatening to file criminal charges against the company if elected.
On the day of the U.S. election, Musk retweeted a post pointing out that Google displayed the "polling place" section when searching "Where can I vote for Harris," but did not provide relevant information when searching "Where can I vote for Trump."
Google responded that the search results for Harris showed a map because Harris is a county in Texas, and Musk thanked Google for the clarification.
Trump has also made similar accusations. In September of this year, he posted on Truth Social, claiming that Google was interfering in the election by only displaying "negative stories" about him while showing "positive stories" about Harris, and stated that he would sue Google.
However, Trump's attitude towards Google has recently changed. In October, he stated that Google was treating him "much better." Trump mentioned that Pichai had called him to say that Trump's recent appearance at McDonald's, where he briefly helped with fries, was "one of the most talked-about events on Google."
Trump stated in October that if he were elected again, he would not break up Google
