Apple China responds that iPhone 16 does not support WeChat: actively communicating with Tencent on matters related to the App Store commission
Apple China responded to the rumor that "iPhone 16 may not support WeChat," stating that this issue needs to be discussed with Tencent. Apple officials stated that the use of WeChat on iOS systems or Apple devices, as well as its availability on the Apple App Store for download, should be jointly discussed and confirmed by Apple and Tencent
On the evening of September 2nd, there was a rumor circulating online that "iPhone 16 may not support WeChat." In response to this, a reporter called the Apple official hotline, and the Apple China technical advisor who answered the call stated that third-party opinions regarding whether the iOS system or Apple devices can still use WeChat, including whether WeChat can continue to be listed and downloaded on the Apple App Store, need to be determined through mutual communication and discussion between Apple and Tencent.
The technical advisor mentioned that developers may need to pay a certain fee to Apple in order to list their software on the Apple Store. "When an app developer lists software on the Apple App Store, once the software reaches a certain number of downloads, the developer must pay a certain fee to Apple for each subsequent download of the software by a user."
He stated that currently, Apple is actively communicating with Tencent to confirm whether Tencent will continue to provide a share of the software downloads on the Apple App Store in the future
