Mark Zuckerberg discusses the "AR+AI" vision: Meta may launch AR glasses in the next two to three years
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussed his vision for AR glasses at the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference. He hopes to launch a series of AR glasses with different prices in the next two to three years, incorporating AI assistants to give them a wide range of capabilities. In addition, he mentioned improvements to Meta's AI assistant and the Meta large language model version. Zuckerberg also stated that Facebook and Instagram will continue to implement more AI features
According to Zhitong Finance, on Monday, at the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference held in Denver, Meta (META.US) CEO Mark Zuckerberg and NVIDIA (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang discussed their vision for AR glasses, which can integrate many technologies into a lightweight designer frame. He hopes to eventually launch a series of AR glasses at different prices, depending on the tasks they can perform; they will have built-in AI assistants with a wide range of capabilities while maintaining a fashionable look. Zuckerberg said, "Our Ray-Bans glasses cannot accommodate all the technology. We are getting closer to success, it may take another two to three years. We hope they look great."
Zuckerberg also discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on Meta products. Zuckerberg said, "We will have Meta AI assistants, but we want our customers to create their own assistants. We call it AI Studio, which is a set of tools that allows each user to create their own AI version. There is only so much time in a day. We cannot interact with the people we need every day. But we can create an assistant based on our own, which can interact with people."
He also mentioned that the Meta large language models Llama3 and Llama4 versions will be more fluent and no longer like chatbots. Jensen Huang said, "Today's artificial intelligence is turn-based. You input to it, and it will feedback to you. In the future, artificial intelligence will be able to plan."
Zuckerberg said, "One interesting application we see is people using AI models to provide support. We see many people using Meta AI to play out difficult scenarios. For example, how to ask for a promotion from your boss, which provides a space for free judgment in handling such situations." He added that with the advancement of technology, Facebook and Instagram will continue to implement more artificial intelligence features
