Ford Motor fell by about 14% as the company's second-quarter profit plummeted by 26%, far below expectations, and the full-year guidance was not revised upwards. Most semiconductor stocks declined, with Micron Technology falling by about 3%. IBM rose by about 2% as the company's second-quarter revenue exceeded expectations, citing over $2 billion in orders from generative AI.
The just released U.S. GDP for the second quarter grew faster than expected, with core inflation easing, and the market's expectation of a Fed rate cut in September remains unaffected.
