Canalys: MediaTek maintains its leading position in the smartphone processor market in the first quarter, with a global market share of 39%
Canalys released data on smartphone processor manufacturers in the first quarter of 2024 (based on smartphone shipment volume): MediaTek maintained its position as the top smartphone processor market with a global market share of 39%. Shipments of smartphones equipped with Apple processors decreased by 16% year-on-year, but Apple still accounted for 41% of the total global smartphone revenue. MediaTek shipped 1.141 billion processors, an increase of 17% year-on-year. Xiaomi, Samsung, and OPPO were the top three contributors, accounting for 23%, 20%, and 17% of MediaTek's smartphone processor shipments, respectively. Qualcomm's smartphone processor shipments grew by 11% to reach 75 million units, with 46% of the shipments coming from Samsung and Xiaomi. Unisoc saw the fastest growth among the top five smartphone processor manufacturers, with a year-on-year increase of 64% to reach 26 million units. Thanks to its main partner Transsion's expansion in emerging markets such as the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, smartphone shipments in these regions all achieved double-digit growth
