Amazon is about to invest nearly $4 billion to support the generative artificial intelligence (AI) star startup Anthropic, as its AI chatbot Claude enters the mobile field, directly competing with OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT with the backing of the tech giant Apple.
On Wednesday, May 1st, Eastern Time, Anthropic announced the launch of its first smartphone app Claude, along with the introduction of its enterprise service Team for the first time.
Claude is a free AI assistant with in-app purchase services, and the official Claude app currently only supports iPhone and iPad. Previously, users could only use the Claude model through Anthropic's Claude.ai website, or third-party model libraries like Amazon's Bedrock, Hugging Face, or Microsoft's Azure. Now, users can use Claude directly on the app and even upload photos for image analysis.
Anthropic stated that the Claude app for iOS provides a free download for all Claude model users, offering an intuitive experience similar to the mobile web, including syncing users' chat history and supporting photo shooting and uploading. Users can use photos from the gallery, take new photos, or upload files for real-time image analysis, contextual understanding, and mobile scenario use cases.
Anthropic introduced that Claude, supported by the AI model Claude 3 series developed by Anthropic, mainly features the following functions:
- Users of iPhone and iPad can send photos and attachments to Claude, ask questions, and receive instant answers.
- Claude can enhance users' productivity, allowing them to collaborate with Claude on important tasks and complex problems even while on the move, facilitating brainstorming and significant progress.
- Claude can alleviate the burden for busy users by helping draft emails, summarize meeting content, and complete small tasks that users prefer not to do.
Screenshots provided by Anthropic show that Claude can help users improve their content for posts or blogs, analyze financial data faster, solve complex problems, overcome traffic congestion by predicting crowd flow models, and assist with various small tasks. For example, providing textual information on the components of an image based on the picture provided by the user
The first enterprise service Team charges $30 per month for each team member to access the Claude 3 model with a context window of 200K
Anthropic introduces Team, which allows teams in enterprises to create a workspace where team members can use Claude multiple times and provides tools for managing users and billing. It is the best way for teams in various industries to utilize Anthropic's new generation Claude 3 series of models.
Last September, Anthropi launched Claude Pro, charging $20 per month for each individual user. The Team service, launched this Wednesday, allows teams to have a minimum of five members, with a price of $30 per user per month.
Team service features include:
- Increased usage: Compared to Anthropic's Claude Professional version, it provides more usage for each user, allowing every team member to significantly increase their chat frequency with Claude.
- Access to Claude 3 model series: It offers the complete Claude 3 model series (including Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku), providing teams and business users with a set of cutting-edge AI models tailored for different use cases. Choose the model that best suits your specific business needs.
- 200K context window: Enterprises can handle long documents (such as research papers, legal contracts), discuss complex topics (such as financial forecasts, product roadmaps), and maintain multi-step conversations (such as customer support queries, project planning discussions), helping individuals and teams gain deeper insights from data.
- Management tools and billing management: Introduce management tools to control user and billing management, making onboarding easier and reducing expenses.
- All features of Claude Pro, including priority access during high traffic periods, early access to new features, higher usage rates, and more.
Anthropic states that in the coming weeks, Team will have more collaboration features, including referencing reliable sources to verify AI-generated statements, integrating with data repositories such as code libraries or CRMs, and allowing team members to collaborate with colleagues to update AI-generated documents or projects while maintaining the highest security standards.
Daniela Amodei, co-founder of Anthropic, stated that over the past few quarters, Anthropic has been developing Team, with 30 to 50 clients from industries such as technology, financial services, legal services, and healthcare participating in Team's beta testing After Anthropic officially announced the launch of a new service, reports circulating on social media generally believe that Anthropic has launched an iPhone app and enterprise-level service, competing with OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Some netizens welcomed the news, stating that Claude is better at generating code, while others commented that Anthropic's move came late
