On April 1st, several domestic new energy vehicle companies in China successively released their performance reports for March.
BYD topped the domestic new energy sales list with a delivery volume of 302,459 units in March, while GAC Aion and Aito delivered 32,530 and 31,727 units respectively, ranking second and third. Li Auto followed closely with 28,984 deliveries, while XPeng and NIO delivered less than ten thousand units in March.
BYD's March New Energy Vehicle Sales Reach 302,500 Units, Up 46.06% Year-on-Year
BYD: In March, the sales of new energy vehicles reached 302,500 units, a 46.06% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the first quarter, the production of new energy vehicles was approximately 612,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.96%; sales were around 626,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.44%.
GAC Aion's March Sales Reach 32,500 Units, Ranking Top Three in Mainstream Pure Electric Vehicles
GAC Aion sold 32,530 units globally in March, a 95.1% increase compared to the previous month, ranking top three in mainstream pure electric vehicles.
In January this year, GAC Aion's global sales were 24,947 units, and in February, 16,676 units. With the latest March sales, the cumulative sales for this year have reached 74,153 units. GAC Aion's General Manager Gu Huinan revealed in a media interview that the company has set a sales target of 700,000 units by 2024.
Furthermore, GAC Aion also announced that it will soon launch new products under the Aion and Haobo brands, which will further enhance the level of intelligent driving and endurance experience in the same class.
At the same time, the company has prepared two major self-developed new technologies, EV and ICV, which are expected to reach new heights in battery safety and energy density.
Aito Leads the New Forces Sales Chart for March
In March, AITO under Hongmeng Intelligent Drive delivered 31,727 new vehicles, once again leading the monthly sales chart for new force brands in the Chinese market.
Aito's new M7 delivered 24,598 new vehicles in a single month, with cumulative deliveries exceeding 120,000 units since its launch, maintaining its position as the best-selling model among Chinese new energy vehicles. According to Wall Street News on April 1st, the starting price of the Aito new M7 model has been reduced by 20,000 to 229,800 yuan.
The luxury tech flagship SUV Aito M9 delivered 6,243 new vehicles in a single month, ranking first in sales of Chinese new energy vehicles priced above 500,000 yuan.
Li Auto Cumulative Deliveries Reach 700,000 in March, with a Year-on-Year Increase of 39.2%
Li Auto announced that in March, the company delivered 28,984 new vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 39.2%. In the first quarter, a total of 80,400 vehicles were delivered, representing a 52.9% year-on-year increase.
As of March 31, 2024, Li Auto has cumulatively delivered 713,640 vehicles, becoming the first Chinese new energy vehicle company to achieve the milestone of delivering 700,000 vehicles.
Zeekr Sees a 225.81% Year-on-Year Increase in March Deliveries
Zeekr announced that the sales of new energy vehicles in March reached 27,730 units, a year-on-year increase of 225.81%. Among them, Zeekr sold 24,986 vehicles, a 579.15% year-on-year increase.
Great Wall Motors Sells 21,882 New Energy Vehicles in March
Great Wall Motors sold 21,882 new energy vehicles in March, with a cumulative sales of 59,182 units from January to March.
The total sales in March were 100,276 units, an 11.02% year-on-year increase, while the cumulative sales from January to March reached 275,333 units, a 25.11% year-on-year increase.
Leapmotor Delivers 14,567 New Vehicles in March
In March, Leapmotor delivered 14,567 new vehicles, achieving a year-on-year increase of over 136%. The cumulative deliveries in the first quarter reached 33,410 units. In the same month, Leapmotor consistently held the third position in sales among new energy vehicle companies, with the impact of the new Leapmotor C10 becoming increasingly evident.
ZEEKR Delivers 13,012 Vehicles in March with Three New Models to be Launched Later this Year
In March, ZEEKR delivered 13,012 new vehicles, with a 95% and 73% increase compared to the previous month and the previous year, respectively. From January to March, a total of 33,059 vehicles were delivered, representing a 117% year-on-year increase ZEEKR revealed that the sales volume of ZEEKR New 001 in the first month of listing has exceeded 30,000 units, and ZEEKR will accelerate the production speed of the vehicle in the future.
At the Geely Auto Performance Conference on March 20th, ZEEKR CEO An Conghui expressed confidence in achieving the sales target of 230,000 units this year. He mentioned that there are still many orders for ZEEKR 007 that have not been fully delivered, and production is currently being accelerated; the new model 001 is expected to continue to exceed ten thousand units in monthly sales this year.
In terms of new products this year, An Conghui revealed that a luxury MPV will be launched during the Beijing Auto Show, a mid-size MPV ZEEKR MIX will be launched in the second quarter, and a mid-to-large SUV will be launched in the fourth quarter. By the end of the year, a product matrix of 6 models will be formed to cope with market competition.
Nio's March Deliveries Increase by 14.3% Year-on-Year
Nio delivered 11,866 vehicles in March, a year-on-year increase of 14.3% and a month-on-month increase of 46%.
In the first quarter of 2024, Nio delivered a total of 30,053 new vehicles. As of now, Nio has delivered a total of 479,647 new vehicles.
Nio stated that the model switch for Nio's 2024 models has been basically completed, and new vehicles have arrived at the stores. In April, Nio's intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving will undergo major upgrades.
XPeng Delivered 9,026 Vehicles in March
In March, XPeng delivered a total of 9,026 new vehicles, with year-on-year and month-on-month growth of 29% and 99% respectively. In the same month, the X9 delivered 3,946 units, with nearly 8,000 units delivered in the first three months since its launch. From January to March, XPeng delivered a total of 21,821 new vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 20%.
XPeng accelerated its internationalization 2.0 process in March, entering the pan-European market including the ASEAN and Germany. On March 26th, at the 45th Bangkok International Auto Show, XPeng announced a long-term strategic partnership with the Thai dealer group Neo Mobility Asia.
In addition, premium dealer groups in Southeast Asia such as Singapore Premium Automobiles and Malaysia Bermaz Auto have joined XPeng's partner ranks. XPeng will soon launch the right-hand drive version of the XPeng G6 in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, and deliveries will begin in the third quarter of this year.
On March 28th, XPeng officially entered the German market and launched the XPeng G9 Market Edition and XPeng P7 Market Edition. In the future, XPeng will gradually enter other European markets including France, Italy, and the United Kingdom
NIO Delivered 8,317 Vehicles in March
NIO announced that it delivered a total of 8,317 vehicles in March. The new NIO L will be launched in April with immediate deliveries upon launch.
It is reported that NIO's Tongxiang factory is undergoing renovation and expansion projects, which will have a significant impact on the production output in March and April. It is expected that production capacity will gradually increase starting from the middle to late April, with an annual capacity target of 200,000 vehicles. For comparison, NIO delivered 6,085 vehicles in February and 10,032 vehicles in January.
