Xiaomi's release of the SU7 has caused a sensation online, with pre-orders reaching 88,898 units within 24 hours. Xiaomi addressed questions from users on Friday regarding production capacity, stating that deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 Founder's Edition began as early as April 3.

Meanwhile, deliveries of the non-Founder's Edition Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi SU7 Max will start at the end of April, while deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 Pro will begin at the end of May. Specific delivery timelines can be referred to in the estimated delivery period when selecting options in the app.

Xiaomi stated that current orders are still hot, and the factory is working at full capacity to increase production, mobilizing supply chain partners to ensure supply. Different models, configurations, colors, etc., will have different delivery timelines, which will be updated in the Xiaomi Car app and mini-program based on adjusted production conditions.

Benchmarking Porsche with Heartfelt Pricing

According to the press conference, the Xiaomi SU7 comes in three versions: the Standard version at 215,900 RMB, the Pro version at 245,900 RMB, and the Max version directly benchmarking Porsche at 299,900 RMB. Specific configurations were actually announced before the press conference, including four major color schemes, nine full colors in appearance design, and other design configurations such as droplet-shaped headlights, halo taillights, 175-degree ripple curve, semi-hidden door handles, four wheel hub styles, and four tire types.

One highlight feature is sun protection. The panoramic glass roof being too hot in summer is a common concern, and Xiaomi has put effort into this aspect. The panoramic glass roof has a 99.9% UV protection rate, and the front windshield has a 97.6% heat insulation rate.

In terms of key aspects like range and acceleration, the Xiaomi SU7 achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.78 seconds, with a top speed of 265 km/h, directly benchmarking the Porsche Taycan. The entire lineup has long range capabilities, with the Standard version starting at 700 km (exceeding the Model 3 Long Range version), allowing for a week of commuting on a single charge, and being able to run for four to five hours at high speeds. The Xiaomi SU7 Max has a range of 801 km, becoming the only domestic electric car to achieve both sub-2-second acceleration and an 800 km range.

In terms of fast charging, all models of the Xiaomi SU7 use "universal silicon carbide" technology and are compatible with all charging stations. The Max version has a 871V high-voltage platform, capable of replenishing 510 km in 15 minutes, while the Standard version has a 486V high-voltage platform, capable of replenishing 350 km in 15 minutes. Xiaomi's home charging station is priced at 3,999 RMB for the 7kW charging power version and 5,999 RMB for the 11kW version. If not purchasing Xiaomi's charging station, third-party charging stations have a compatibility rate of 99.9%. Xiaomi is also planning to build Xiaomi Super Charging Stations, using a 600kW liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging solution, with initial plans to build in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou.

In terms of autonomous driving, Xiaomi's smart driving solution Xiaomi Pilot Max City NOA began user testing in April, will officially launch in 10 cities in May, and will be available nationwide in August, with lifelong free usage.

Strong Pre-orders but Facing Complaints?

After Xiaomi SU7 went on sale, it broke 10,000 units in 4 minutes, 20,000 units in 7 minutes, and 50,000 units in 27 minutes. Within 24 hours of listing, 88,898 units were sold.

However, behind the surge in orders, there have been reports of customers unable to refund their deposits. Some media outlets reported that Xiaomi has received complaints from hundreds of consumers, stating that the 5,000 yuan deposit paid earlier cannot be refunded, which contradicts Xiaomi's announcement of a 7-day no-reason refund policy for deposits on its cars.

In response, Xiaomi Automotive stated that it is common practice in the industry to have a cooling-off period after a large order, ranging from 1-3 days, during which customers can cancel or modify their orders. Considering the high volume of test drive reservations for Xiaomi SU7 and to further protect customer rights, allowing customers more time for test drives and consideration, the cooling-off period has been extended to 7 days until April 30.

However, after the 7-day period, the vehicle configuration will be automatically locked, and consumers can also proactively lock in their configurations earlier. Once the order is locked, the vehicle will enter the production stage, and the configuration cannot be changed, with the deposit non-refundable. In addition, the configuration of the Founder's Edition has already been locked, and consumers who pay a 20,000 yuan deposit will have their orders locked in.

As of 12:00 pm on March 29, Xiaomi Automotive's customer service system has received a total of 469 requests for order cancellations and modifications. Xiaomi Automotive stated that during the car purchase process on the app, there are a total of three prompts regarding the non-refundable nature of actively locking in orders, with a direct pop-up reminder when "locking in the configuration" at the final stage
