Dell Technologies: Every PC will become an AI PC.
Dell Technologies stated that the entire hardware industry is about to undergo a major upgrade and transformation.
The AI wave is still hot, and hardware giant Dell Tech also wants a piece of the action.
On February 26, at the 2024 World Mobile Communications Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Dell Tech unveiled a range of new Latitude series commercial laptops, including the latest version of the Latitude 7350 Detachable convertible device. In addition, for professionals in need of high-performance computing solutions, they also launched the Precision 3680 tower computer and other devices in the Precision series.
Analysts point out that through these products, Dell Tech is not only updating its hardware product line but also actively integrating AI technology into its products to enhance user experience and efficiency.
Dell Tech stated that the entire hardware industry is about to undergo a major upgrade. Consumers may not yet fully realize that what they really want is a personal computer (PC) equipped with AI capabilities.
Meghana Patwardhan, Vice President of Commercial Computers and Software at Dell Tech, revealed at a press conference:
"In the short term, there are PCs in the market with and without AI hardware, but in the long term, all personal computers will become AI computers."
Tech Giants Competing for the AI PC Market
According to media reports, Microsoft's decision to end support for Windows 10 and force users to upgrade to the new operating system did not immediately boost the growth of the PC hardware market with the launch of Windows 11. As a result, tech giants shifted their focus and tried to find new drivers to boost hardware growth.
Against this backdrop, the product upgrades and updates brought by the AI trend provide manufacturers with new ideas. Due to the popularization of AI technology, Microsoft's hardware requirements for Windows updates, the prevalence of remote work modes after the epidemic, and other factors, consumers' demand for high-performance personal computers with AI is increasing. Users want to buy personal computers that not only meet current needs but also support AI applications from tech giants like Microsoft and Google.
Therefore, major tech giants have joined the AI PC camp, hoping to boost sales by hyping AI. For example, NVIDIA also aims to win with "AI PC" and has launched two notebook GPUs.
Hardware giant Dell Tech has also keenly captured this point and plans to release a series of AI PCs to meet market demand. According to reports, in discussions between the media and Dell Tech spokespersons, AI technology has always been the focus of the conversation. Dell Tech particularly emphasized the advantages of dedicated AI hardware, such as neural processing units (NPUs), in terms of energy efficiency and future proofing. To illustrate this point, Dell Tech uses the example of the background blur feature in video calls, emphasizing the efficiency improvement when AI hardware is running compared to when it is not.
At the same time, Dell Tech hopes that Microsoft can quickly release a Windows version that can better utilize AI hardware, in order to better support and leverage the capabilities of AI hardware, further promoting the intelligence and efficiency of personal computers and other devices.
