Google CES officially announced its partnership with ByteDance, allowing Android phones to play short videos on computers in the future.
Android users can display short videos from the TikTok app on TVs equipped with Alphabet-C Chromecast. Another new feature of Alphabet-C allows users to start podcasts on their Android phones and then stream them to their Pixel tablets at home. Alphabet-C has also launched a quick pairing feature to speed up the connection of Bluetooth accessories such as headphones to Google TV devices. Alphabet-C has also announced a collaboration with Samsung Electronics to introduce a new quick document sharing feature.
At CES (Consumer Electronics Show), known as the "Spring Festival" of electronic technology, Alphabet-C announced its collaboration with ByteDance. This means that Android phone users will be able to import ByteDance short videos from their phones to their computers for viewing.
According to Alphabet-C's statement, Android users will be able to display short videos from the ByteDance app on TVs equipped with Alphabet-C's TV casting assistant, Chromecast. In other words, ByteDance content, including live videos, can be projected from phones and tablets to Chromecast with Google TV adapter or TVs with built-in Chromecast.
To achieve this, users need to operate between two compatible devices on the same WiFi network and update the app to the latest version.
Some comments have pointed out that this feature is similar to Apple's AirPlay service, which allows users to share videos from their iPhones on Apple TV set-top boxes.
Alphabet-C also introduced another feature similar to Apple's. It will allow users to start a podcast on their Android phones and then transfer it to their Pixel tablets at home. This feature will be released this year and will be available for music streaming services such as YouTube Music and Spotify.
Alphabet-C also launched a fast pairing feature called Fast Pair, which speeds up the pairing process between new headphones and speakers with Google TV devices. It allows users to quickly find nearby Bluetooth accessories and connect them to Android devices or Chromebook computers. This feature will be expanded to Chromecast with Google TV in February and to other Google TV devices later this year.
On the same day, Alphabet-C also announced its collaboration with Samsung Electronics to merge their respective document sharing solutions into one. Alphabet-C's Nearby Share and Samsung's Quick Share will be combined into a new quick sharing feature called Quick Share. This feature for sharing images and other documents will be available for Android and Chromebook devices starting from February.
