ChargePoint announced that its third-quarter revenue will be lower than expected due to pressure in its core markets in North America and Europe. The company reported preliminary revenue for the third quarter of $108 million to $113 million, compared to the previous expectation of $150 million to $165 million.
Zhitong App learned that on Thursday, electric vehicle charging network operator ChargePoint (CHPT.US) fell more than 30% after hours. ChargePoint stated that its third-quarter revenue will be lower than expected due to pressure in its core markets in North America and Europe. The company announced preliminary third-quarter revenue of $108 million to $113 million, compared to previous expectations of $150 million to $165 million.
ChargePoint's newly appointed President and CEO, Rick Wilmer, said, "The overall macroeconomic conditions, as well as delays in fleet and commercial vehicle deliveries, have impacted the expected deployments of government, automotive dealer, and workplace customers."
In addition, ChargePoint stated that as of October 31, 2023, the company held approximately $397 million in cash, cash equivalents, and restricted cash. The company expects to incur $42 million in non-cash impairment charges in the third quarter, resulting in a GAAP gross margin of -23% to -21% and a non-GAAP gross margin of -19% to -17%. The company also expects third-quarter non-GAAP operating expenses to be $80 million to $82 million, compared to previous expectations of $81 million to $84 million.
ChargePoint also announced on Thursday that Chief Financial Officer Rex Jackson has resigned. Mansi Khetani, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at ChargePoint, has been appointed as interim CFO. The company will announce its complete third-quarter performance on December 6th.
